Up close

Intuitive Ion is a robotic bronchoscopy system that helps doctors reach small, hard-to-get-at nodules deep in the lungs and take biopsies. An ultra-thin 3.5 mm catheter bends 180° in any direction and reaches all 18 lung segments, guided by a 3D route planned from a CT scan and fibre-optic shape sensing along its whole length. A 2.0 mm channel takes biopsy tools. The physician controls it throughout.

Key features

Shape sensing

Measures the catheter's full shape hundreds of times a second.

3.5 mm catheter

Thin enough for small peripheral airways.

180° articulation

Bends in any direction.

CT-based planning

PlanPoint builds a 3D route from the CT scan.

Vision probe

Removable camera for navigation.

2.0 mm channel

Takes compatible biopsy tools.

Is it right for you?

Good fit if

  • Hospitals building an advanced bronchoscopy programme
  • Teams biopsying small or peripheral lung nodules

Not ideal if

  • Expecting automatic diagnosis
  • Purchase by individuals
