The da Vinci S is Intuitive's second-generation robotic surgery system, introduced in 2006. A surgeon sits at a console with a magnified 3D view and controls wristed EndoWrist instruments through several small ports. It is not autonomous. Intuitive's current systems are the da Vinci 5, Xi, X and SP, so any da Vinci S on offer is used, refurbished or surplus and needs authorised service and compatible instruments.

Do newer instruments fit it?
