Up close

The ASUS Zenbo is a small wheeled home robot with an animated touchscreen face, made for family help and companionship: voice commands, reminders, video calls, photos, stories and smart-home control. Developers could build apps for it with ASUS's Android SDK. ASUS has ended production, app support and its cloud services, so units on offer now are used or old stock and many online features no longer work. ASUS's current model is the Zenbo Junior II.

Questions

Is Zenbo still supported?

No. ASUS ended production and app maintenance and shut down cloud services, so remote control, video calling and the app store may no longer work.

Can I still program it?

It runs Android and had an SDK for dialogue, motion and vision. Archived docs may exist, but the platform is no longer maintained.

What should I buy instead?

For companionship, a current robot such as LOVOT. For remote calls, a current telepresence robot.
